Another consignment of absolutely stunning heirloom boudoir boxes - all covered with beautiful, authentic 18th and 19th century fabrics - Toile de Jouy, romantic florals, cabbage roses and softly faded prints, and lined with original sepia print 18th & 19th Century letters. I have carefully sorted them into coordinating colours, and am listing 2 lots this week. This is a collection of 3 square boxes - all in red 18th & 19th century Toile de Jouy with classical and bucolic motifs. One of the 18th Century toiles I recognize is the "Chariot of Dawn" printed in Nantes in 1785, and another "The History of Joseph" is a 19th century toile. All the boxes are in excellent condition, with no damage, just a couple of minor storage marks, and a little fading. With the lid on, the smallest box measures 14cms x 14cms x 10cms (5.5" x 5.5" x 4"), the medium box 19cms x 19cms x 13cms (7.5" x 7.5" x 5") and the largest 23cms x 23cms x 15cms (9" x 9" x 6"). Beautiful, rare collection of boxes for storing boudoir treasures, sewing notions, cards, love letters, photos and ephemera!
