A very rare and beautiful antique Victorian mannequin dating to circa 1870. Made by Harris & Sheldon Ltd, 38 Thomas St, Manchester, UK (stamped on the cloth front of the mannequin). The mannequin or dressmaker's dummy, has a very unusual wasp-waisted shape, with an elongated skirt form. The stand is complete, with an adjustable brass key for changing the height. It is very well made, with a metal pole extending into the wooden pole for added strength. The thistle at the top is made from heavy porcelain. There is a ebonized wooden tripod stand (excellent condition) and the mannequin can either be displayed on this, or stand alone as a counter top mannequin. The body itself is 90cms (35.4 inches) tall and her vital statistics (bust, waist and hips) are 88cms, 58cms and 109cms (34.6 inches x 22.8 inches x 42.9 inches). Apart from some fraying of the fabric around the wooden arm finials, and a few tiny holes here and there, this is in very good condition. It will be an expensive item to ship internationally due to both the size and weight, but I am happy to pack and send it. It will be sent by ParcelForce 48 to UK destinations, and by Global Priority to international destinations. A very rare Victorian mannequin - brilliant display piece!
