Panel antique French 18th century woven silk brocade (A)
I have just returned from France with a lovely hoard of 18th and 19th century French silks and printed cotton fabrics......this is an 18th century woven silk brocade panel - lined with pink glazed chintz (a small piece of the chintz on the reverse is missing - see last image) and interlined with linen. I believe this was originally the back collar of an ecclesiastical cope. I have two available - the second is listed separately. The silk is a wonderful turmeric yellow with rose and floral motifs. I cannot find any damage or stains to the silk - it is just a little dusty from storage. The silk part measures approximately 21 inches x 21 inches. Wonderful 18th century woven silk - perfect for special costume and couture projects that require authentic period textiles.
