A wonderful find! From a convent in SW France, this is a collection of 8 beautiful handmade silk roses. Made by the nuns, these would have been used for communion crowns and wedding crowns. There are 8 crumpled silk roses, found wrapped in two French antique letters - one dating to 1787 (the letters are included). The roses date to around 1890. The roses are different sizes - all between 8cms (3 inches) in diameter and 5cms (2 inches) in diameter. Each rose is backed with tarlatan. Perfect for all manner of couture, millinery and creative projects. I have another set of 12 slightly smaller silk roses listed from the same convent.
