A lovely set of 4 French finest quality linen and silk damask napkins - all from the Couvent de Sainte Marthe in Perigueux, France. The nuns entering the convent brought their dowry/trousseau linen with them, and as many of the nuns came from aristocratic families, the quality of the linen was often exceptional. I was lucky enough to acquire a huge collection of 19th century linen from a convent in Perigueux last year, and am listing the last few sets of napkins and towels over the next couple of weeks. This is a set of 4 napkins. Each napkin measures 29 inches x 35.4 inches (74cms x 90cms) - large dinner napkins with beautiful scrolling floral motifs woven into the linen, and a centrally placed monogram - NL - exquisitely hand embroidered in the centre of each. There is also a second monogram in tiny red cross-stitch - BP at one corner of each napkin. The napkins are freshly laundered with no marks, stains or damage. If this is your monogram, do not hesitate! Or a lovely wedding gift for Neil & Laura, Naomi & Lars, Nora & Liam. Nigel & Lottie......
