When I first saw this wonderful dish, I was sure that the hand painted lady bugs were added to it at a later date than its inception. At close inspection, though, they are original to the piece! It's a first for me, and such a fun discovery! This is English, circa 1820 or so, and it almost certainly was once a part of a dessert set. The dish is 10" by 8" by 1.5" high, and it has a raised beaded edge with grape leaf accent at the handle. Just an adorable antique!
Condition: there is gold gilt rubbing, especially on the 2 rings in the center bottom of the dish. No chips or cracks. A nice addition to any collection.
