From the Alsace region of France, this traditional Christmas mould was made in Soufflenheim, by a company dating to 1888. It represents the Baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes, and was used for Christmas Eve desserts, usually decorated cakes,
but suitable for any moulded dessert, such as gelatin. See photos. The fish shape is an additional Christian symbol, of course, and in much of Continental Europe fish is traditionally served on Christmas Eve for that reason. The mould measures 37cm X 13.5cm X 8cm. The condition is excellent and fully useable, despite a few minor chips. It weighs about 2.5lbs. Ships fully insured from France.
