Composition miniature doll, mint in box. I have acquired a small group of these dolls, all listed in the shop, and they are just so charmingly odd. This one is called "Peasants". Apparently, at one point in time, our friends in Japan believed that "peasants" (I assume European ones) wore top hats and boleros. He has never been removed from his box, which, aside from staining, is in good condition with lovely paper decoration. He wears flannel short pants with yellow ribbons around his knees (I think this is to effect knickers, but we are venturing far afield here into peasantry), and his belt is a different color flannel. He also wears a flannel shirt with a short jacket, a tiny ribbon bow tie, and and a felt top hat with a ribbon band. He has molded hair. He is 4.125 inches tall, and his box is 4.625 inches by 3.25 inches by 1.375 deep. Made in Japan. Unknown date. There are three other charming versions listed. Stand not included.
