Bisque head German girl doll, Weifel and Co., mint in original box. Bisque socket head, blue glass stationary eyes, composition arms, legs, body. Her head is a very fine, light bisque, with one stroke eyebrows, painted upper and lower lashes, open mouth with 5 upper teeth. She has her original wig, possessing wonderful curls. Clothing is factory original, sewn on and in pristine condition: underneath her dress is a slip and knickers. There is fading: an area on the back is still pink, originally matching her shoes and socks, which are just adorable. Those socks are glued to her legs. 12 inches tall. Having been stored in the box for a long time, she has become kind of flat: an artifact of history. Not only is this a very pretty, surprised looking doll, but she's clearly intended to appeal to a little girl. I would not like to imagine a mother having to resist her child on this.....These dolls are not commonly found, and were made sometime during the period 1912-1930. Judging by the clothing, I will guess it is the earlier part of that period. She displays beautifully, and is quite striking. In her 14 inch original box- cotton ties hold her there if you wish to display that way. A sweet gem.
