Gorgeous Blonde Schoenhau and Hoffmeister 24 inch character girl. So pretty and full of spunk! Bisque head on a composition body. Her big blue sleep eyes work well, her bisque is pale and lovely, free of cracks, chips or hairlines, with a dimpled chin and four upper teeth in a well shaped mouth. Her human hair wig is stunning. Likely not original, but cannot say for certain.
Schoenhau and Hoffmeister was one of the very few factories that dressed their own dolls and always in a stylish and imaginative way. This silk taffeta drop waisted dress is showing some splitting along the crossgrain in a few areas ; careful handling will prevent further wear. The turned collar is on the bias as are the sleeves! I don’t know if she originally wore a petticoat, but now she has knickers pinned closed due to elastic stretching out, and a camisole that is sewn on. Original oilcloth shoes and possibly socks are original.
She is wearing a mobcap, do not know if original. I personally prefer her without it, but it will be your choice.
Composition body shows some wear due to play, and surface cracking but nothing out of the ordinary . Please see photos to assess. Due to the fact that her camisole was sewn on at the factory ( or wherever sewn, as S and H had home sewers too), her torso shows almost no wear and is in excellent condition. Under a blacklight, one can see hands have been repainted, her toes and bottoms of feet show repaint as do her right knee and a spot on her left thigh. The back of her head is marked Germany / S STAR H / 1909 / 7 1/2
