Early vintage folk art Americana man sawing wood. If you turn the screw on the other end, the man with a pointy beard moves forward and back with a sawing motion. I believe the screw once was inside a handle, and this may have been a whirlygig or similar but it came to me without a base, just a post that now fits into the wood base I made for him. The toy is in fine working order, the original paint, (no retouched areas) is worn and chipped just the way we like it, and the colors are still vivid in a way that adds much to the sculptural quality of this delightful piece of folk art. There are no marks or signatures. The piece measures 15.25 by 11 inches tall, the base is 15.625 by 3.875 wide by 1 inch high.
