Papier mache M&S Superior doll in wonderful clothing. This 18 inch lady is model 2015 with an intact label, 1860's. Her cloth body is in excellent condition, stuffed firmly, and likely original. She has brown eyes with grey eyeliner, and the unusual feature of a dashed line indicating the lower lashline. Grey eyebrows, well-blushed cheeks, a chip on her nose, and a crack along the seam where the two halves of her pressed head were joined. Back of her head is worn, showing to advantage her curls. Her arms are cloth, with mitten hands and separate thumbs. She wears many layers of clothing: a chemise, petticoat, knickers and socks, underneath her dress of exquisite antique printed cotton. I cannot remove her dress due to the tightness of the sleeves. Oilcloth boots are not original but add to her character. This lady has been in my shop for a while and I've not listed her because I am fond of her, being a collector of papier mache dolls myself. A beautiful, dignified lady in delightful antique clothing. I do not know when her necklace was added: to my eye, it adds to her charms.
