Simon Halbig CM Bergmann beauty in fabulous clothing. This is a 27 inch doll with a head made by Simon and Halbig, circa 1918- mid 1920's, and she has incredibly luminous bisque. With her big brown sleep eyes and fringed lashes, painted lower lashes, softly blushed cheeks, open mouth with 4 upper teeth, earrings, this girl is just spectacular. She has what appears to be her original auburn curly human hair wig. In addition, she is wearing the most phenomally well made outfit I have ever seen. Every seam of this two piece dress is French finished, all bias and piping is perfect, and it shows imaginative use of trim. It is made of antique or vintage fabric but I believe it was made more recently. Comes with a matching purse and bonnet. The undergarments are likewise wonderful with a straight muslin petticoat, a full circular cotton lawn petticoat with tucks ( a note to seamstresses: that means tucks are mainly on the bias! gulp...), a short chemise and knickers. The undergarments are not old but they are extremely well made. Shoes are leather boots that are newer replacements. Cotton socks.
Her bisque head is perfect with no hairlines, chips or cracks. Her body shows wear from play, nothing dramatic, but I am pleased to see that this doll was loved. There is nothing to do but fall in love- she will light up the room wherever she is.
