Antique Victorian era wicker sewing basket. This is an entrancing shape, is it not? The exterior is made of a hearty woven wicker or reeds. The inside is silk satin, tufted, and the edges are covered in guimpe. This came to me very dusty and when I cleaned it up I discovered that the condition is quite good except for the fabric that holds the sides to the center; that shows wear but the movement of the sides is unaffected. This particular shape is not commonly found, but the few I have seen have this same issue. This would be wonderful to display dolls or other items. 11 inches widest by 9 inches at base by 11 inches to top of handles, which folds down if desired. When both sides are open, this is 17.5 inches wide. Since I purchased this at a good price, I am passing that along to you.
