Artist made dress for Fashion Doll or china doll of the period. This dress is a remarkable achievement and as someone who sews, I have much respect for anyone who would even attempt a project like this. A dress in the style of the late 1870’s to early 1880’s, fitting closely through the body and sleeves, with a train that is looped up inside the back. One large side pocket, very au courant at the time. Fully lined with polished cotton, hand-finished seams, knife pleating at bottom, closes with hooks and eyes down the back. Please be aware that this requires a bustle pad in order to fit correctly and hold intended shape. Not a difficult item to make, but requires the attendance of the doll. The shape of this dress gives you a fair amount of leeway; the general area for waist would be 6-7 inches. Shoulder width is 4.5 inches, the sleeves are 5 inches long. The dress is 16 inches down the front and the back is looped so it’s about the same, but can be adjusted once the bustle is in. There are a couple of light stains in front and will also need a careful pressing. This is a gem of a dress and I see your lady with a muff and a tiny hat on her head- accessories are going to be so much fun! It came to me on a doll for which it was not intended and I am selling at a very good price ; the amount of work required to make dresses in the style of the Gilded Age is substantial. I do not have any dolls that can model this. If you need additional measurements, please ask.
