Vintage painted papier mache poupard. This unusual boy, 10.5 inches tall, is made in exactly the same manner as the French poupards ( one is currently in my listed items) that were sold in street stalls. This one is much more sophisticated in its execution with wonderful colors and is very well done by a skilled painter. Side-glancing eyes, wearing a painted romper or early swimsuit, socks are a subtly different color than the legs. I have no info about this doll at all and there are no markings. The arms are attached by elastic, inset slightly at the shoulders. Possibly an artist doll. A delightful and unusual addition to your papier mache collection at a great price.
