Antique miniature beaded miser's purse. This is a small scale purse in a style that was designed to be worn hanging over a sash underneath clothing or over an outer belt. This is the perfect scale for a larger French doll (who, of course, can wear it any way she chooses, and it seems to be that hanging over her arm would work well) It is a very fine mesh ( I do not know what the fiber is) decorated with an elaborate design of sparkly steel beads— just gorgeous! It is in excellent condition except for the mesh having a few holes. The entire purse is 9.5 inches long ( 12.5 including the fringe) and, as you can see, it is meant to be worn folded in half. The closure is formed by the sliding metal tubes in the center. The miser’s purse, as a style, dates from medieval times but has been revived in various iterations over the centuries as evening wear. I believe this is from early 1900’s- 1920’s.
