Antique Recknagel cabinet sized doll, 11 inches tall. Her bisque socket head is in excellent condition. Original mohair wig, blue sleep eyes, in excellent working order, with upper and lower light painted lashes. Her cheeks are blushed. Her mouth is open with upper teeth. This little girl is wearing her original dress and slip which is pinned to her body. The collar can be removed. Her dress is brown and white, tiny pink buttons, with a dropped waist; there is a tear in back. I have added the bow. She wears a simple cotton underskirt and socks. The body is cardboard with arms and legs of composition. No damage. She is marked “1909, DEP, R 8/0 A and was produced by Theodor Recknagel. This charming little doll is a bit of a wake-up call! Dolls were a commodity produced and sold in many price ranges and this was obviously not an expensive doll. However, it is easy to imagine a little girl discovering this little cutie pie on an outing with her mother, pining after her and begging her mother to make the purchase. This doll is 109 years young! in remarkable condition for her age.
