Adorable Martha Chase boy doll, 16 inches. This endearing little boy wears a gingham romper that was made for him long ago. Underneath, there’s a torn and tattered union suit that appears to have been with him from day one. I dare not remove it, but from what I can see, his cloth body is in excellent condition, having been protected all these years. Indeed, with the exception of some areas of hair paint missing, this bright eyed fellow is in very good shape. His facial painting, especially the eyes, is lovely. At first I thought his lips were repainted, but I do not find that under a blacklight, and there are tiny age related cracks to the lips. If done, it was long ago. There are the usual paint cracks common to these dolls to be seen, but hands and feet show almost no wear, and at this scale, the famous Chase hands are just begging for you to touch them. He is also adorned with a colorful ribbon rosette containing a vintage button.
