Antique doll sized porcelain tea set in original French box. A charming set consisting of 6 plates, six cups, five saucers, a teapot with lid, a sugar bowl with lid, a cream pitcher. The pattern, was at some time in the past, modified by someone who hand painted the darker red lines that complement the gilt ones. The reddish pink lines are on top of the glaze. This set is in excellent condition but for a chip on the rim of the teapot and a chip on the rim of the sugar bowl. There have also been a couple of repairs to handles of the cups. There is very minor wear to the gilt. The box has wear to the the top and side edges of the top, and the cardboard that holds the set has settled in the center, so it does not hold the set very well, but this could be adjusted. There are no marks on this set, so we could assume it was made before 1891. The box language, obviously, is French- and I have been unable to find the original pattern in any of my books.
The teapot measures 3.75 inches tall, the pitcher is 1.375 inches tall. The cups are 1.5 inches wide and 1.25 high. Plates are 3 inches wide, saucers are 2.75 wide. The sugar bowl is 2.75 inches high with the top on. the box measures 12.5 inches by 9.125 inches by 2.75 inches deep.
