Beautiful 20 inch bisque head girl by Simon & Halbig. This is an early S&H model 939, with a socket head, heavily feathered eyebrows, (French-style, I would say) painted lashes and mesmerizing stationary threaded blue glass eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth and one lower. Her bisque facial coloring is soft, pale and softly blushed with faintly lighter areas on right cheek. Very detailed ears were separately applied, have holes for earrings, with a small chip at an ear hole. Her nose is well shaped with painted nostrils. Original hand tied ash blonde mohair wig (pate is a replacement). There’s a short invisible hairline, (meaning seen only under a blacklight) at corner of left eye, completely stable since it is under eye plaster, a small chip of upper right tooth. Her Composition and wood body, arms with straight wrists, is in good condition with some wear on lower legs, repair/repaint to foot and repaint to small areas on underside of hands. There are a few chips to the paint around the rim edge of neck socket and a crack to the surface paint on one leg that has been painted, no actual damage present there. Now we get to the really great part: look at this dress! Made of a fine cotton chambray, we have tucks and pleats galore, pleated embroidered trim and a ribbon belt. Dress was made for her at some point in the past and is in excellent condition. Possibly the undergarments are later. She wears long cotton socks and red leather shoes that have some inner repairs but are holding up just fine. She also wears a well made old straw hat. Marked S / 12 / H / 939.
