Rare German Bisque girl by Harmus. This 14 inch doll has a beautiful pale bisque face, socket head, sleep eyes with real upper lashes and painted lower lashes, open mouth with teeth, blushed cheeks, lovely red mohair wig. Her features are very delicate and refined. The wig is not original but suits her perfectly. Her composition and wood body has some cracks and chips to the paint, but otherwise shows no wear from play. She has wonderful hands- red outlines the fingers and also the fold between thumb and forefinger is delineated. Wearing what may be original knickers, later but old chemise and her original factory dress. Fabulous pale greenish blue shoes are original, and likely the cotton socks. Carl Harmus was the namesake of this company but passed away early in its history. These dolls are rarely marked Harmus; there seem to have been a number of other marks associated with the company and rarely are they marked in this way. They advertised as selling dressed dolls. She is likely from the 1910's- a unusual, lovely and gentle young lady.
