Vintage teddy bear, pale gold mohair, 1920's. Fully jointed with shoe button eyes. 15 inches tall. Embroidered light brown mouth: it appears that the threads have worn off the nose, so the fabric indicating where his nose stitching should be is what's showing. In decent very old bear condition: all the pawpads were replaced long ago, and this bear has been so loved that his foot pads are worn, with excelsior showing, but it is not coming out. His shoe button eyes are likely replacements. Medium longish shaggy mohair shows wear on lower arms and legs: this, to my eye, just enhances the worn and loved character of this fellow. His bow tie is made of very old fabric. I cannot ascertain maker or date for certain. A snippet: when purchased, I was told this bear was from the Blackler collection, but I have not seen it in the auction catalog. No effect on what an endearing charmer he is! Acquired at a great price, so passing along that way.
