I just love these old diamond bands. They look fantastic alone or stacked with other favorite antique bands. This one is very nice and old..
The diamonds are foil backed and are painted with a black dot behind the culets. The diamonds are not huge but have really good sparkle. These old rose cuts cannot be compared to current day cut, color, clarity and carat size. Each diamond has its own unique personality. The five diamonds center out are approximately the same size. The two diamonds on either end are small in relation. The top of the mount is silver and the band gold.
The ring has a great deal of sparkle however the smallest 2 diamonds on either end do appear quite dark. Most likely this was exposed to water at some point. Being they are on the end and not front and center it does not completely distract.
The ring is a nice size and is a US 7 3/4. It weighs 2.4 grams and is testing for slightly more than 18K yellow gold. It shows no sign of being sized in the past. This can easily be sized up or down by at least 2 sizes.
European in origin, Circa 1800, Georgian.
A very pretty ring that can be worn everyday... Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
