What a beautiful Georgian ring... Natural table cut rubies and diamonds grace the face of this cluster ring.
The workmanship is lovely. Tested natural rubies and diamonds are all safely collet-set with silver. The shank and behind the ring been professionally tested by my bench jeweler. 15K. He owns a very high-tech scanning metal testing machine and there is zero room for error when he scans metals.
The center ruby is a very soft pale pink which was foil backed. It is surrounded by well matched deeper rubies and 4 small diamonds, also foil backed. It has maintained beautiful sparkle. The rubies and diamonds have also been professionally tested.
The ring was purchased in Italy. I currently have a pendant that is very similar in style to this ring. It was hallmarked with Sicilian hallmarks. The workmanship is so close that I am inclined to believe that this was also produced there.
Across the face it measures 7/8" with the side rubies. The shank is split with pretty scrolls on the sides. This is all original.
The ring is a US Size 7 1/4 and weighs 4.5 grams.
Circa 1780 ~ Georgian period
Excellent antique condition. The only apology would be that on there is a tiny bit of roughness you can feel with your fingernail on the back of the shank. It was likely resized at some point. When this is on your finger you will never notice.
Italian in origin.
It is a nice early ring in wonderful condition. It shows beautifully and large on the finger. Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
