This very pretty English bangle is well hallmarked. I have always liked these wonderful Sterling hinged bangles. This one is very nice with an unusual subject matter. The top has interlocking meandering maple leaves or ivy that meanders all across the top. The back is plain as is common.
I did quite a bit of research on the maker and date with this piece. It is hallmarked HB which was Henry Bourne. There is a small L that is stamped twice, Lion indicating Sterling and anchor for the city of Birmingham. This letter indicates that the bracelet was produced in 1885.
Condition is really fantastic. There are 2 pinpoint dots on the the back of the bangle however they are not dents. Really mentioned for accuracy as it absolutely does not distract. Please note that the safety chain was replaced. Even though the bangle closes with a perfectly tight snap, I replaced the safety with a sterling chain as it is nice to have.
The bangle is on the smaller size for this type. It measures 2 1/4 x 2 1/8". It has a wall height of 3/4". This will fit a small to medium wrist. If you have a large wrist this may be too small for you. A lovely English piece. Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
