One of the most spectacular Georgian rings I have yet to see.. The ring is fancy silver crimped around the stone and has a gold shank.
This large impressive natural, tested quartz crystal ring has been evaluated by Sotheby's in San Francisco. The antique jewelry specialist was very excited about this piece. He offered to add this to the next live auction catalog with an opening bid of $5850.00. That was the low end value on the ring according to the specialist. I have decided to sell this on my own but it was a good starting point in terms of value.
The quartz crystal measures 19.5 x 17 x approximately 8mm deep. This would be the equivalent to a 22 carat diamond. The stone is absolutely gorgeous and the foil is pristine. The color it throw off is just fascinating.
The shank is stamped 9ct however has professionally tested for 15K.
It is a US size 7 but can easily be sized up or down by 2 full sizes.
This was purchased in Italy many years ago.
Condition is excellent with no apologies to be made.
Circa 1760 ~ Georgian period.
