A beautiful paste heart that can be given to the one you love or kept for yourself... This style of pendant has been around since the Pre - Georgian period and remains popular to this day. New pieces with diamonds are very popular but of course they took their model of today's (modern heart pendants from wonderful antique pieces.)
This is a nice size piece. It dangles 1 3/8" from the top of the bale. Across the widest portion of the heart it measures 3/4". It weighs 2.6 grams. Each hand cut paste is safely prong set and has a pave feel. The pastes are foil backed with a closed back setting. The mount is slightly puffy on the top. The metal is tested 800 silver with a gold gilt. The gold has worn on the bale portion where it would touch your neck. Inside of the heart, because it is not flat, the gold remains.
This piece was purchased in England
Circa 1910 ~ Edwardian Era
Condition is Very Good to Excellent. There are a couple of foils that are not quite as pristine as the rest however this is mentioned for accuracy only as it certainly does not distract.
Simply add a silver chain, a piece of ribbon or velvet and this will be a gorgeous necklace. Or, this can be added to your favorite charm bracelet. A heart is always in style! Please see the last photo. That heart is on the cover of my Georgian Jewellery book. It is an example of just how long this style of heart has been around. Questions are always welcome and encouraged..
