Beautiful, Unique, unusual and rare.. My 4 favorite words! The quartz crystals have been professionally tested. Each crystal was hand faceted and sanded into a beautiful scalloped large rectangular bars. There are 26 crystals total. Each is foil backed and set in silver. When it was made, the bench jeweler covered the silver with gold gilt. The gilt has worn off of the back and what remains is silver with warm patina. The clasp and links on the top side all retain the gold gilt. It has only worn where it touched the wrist. The silver was professionally tested.
This has a very Egyptian revival feel which of course became very popular after the discovery of King Tut's tomb in 1922. Much of what is known about Tutankhamun, better known today as King Tut, derives from the discovery of his tomb in 1922. British archaeologist Howard Carter had begun excavating in Egypt in 1891, and after World War I he began an intensive search for Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. The discovery of course was one of the most important discoveries to date. It created a frenzy with Egyptian revival jewels, paintings, objects, bronzes, etc.
It is absolutely the perfect length in my opinion. It measures 7 1/4" long x 1 1/4" wide. Each individual crystal measures 1/2" x 3/8". The bracelet weighs 25.3 grams. There is a hallmark on the O ring. Although I am not sure of the maker, it appears to be Egyptian. It looks very much like Egyptian hieroglyphic writing. There is a very good photo of the hallmark in my listing.
The bracelet glistens galore when it is anywhere near the sun. I will say it is even better in hand. This is one of the most comfortable link bracelets I have had. When you have this on your wrist, it is so incredibly comfortable you forget you are wearing it. To keep this beautiful, please do not get the bracelet wet. Water will deteriorate the foils which are presently in perfect condition.
