This is an absolutely extraordinary and highly unusual piece. In nearly 20 years of dealing in antique jewelry, this is the very first of its kind I've had.
The size of course will strike you first. It is large and impressive as you can see. The enamel colors are wonderful and subtle. The bench jeweler selected cream, silver, teal and a touch of gold. The metal is tested silver and is professionally testing for 800. There is a fantastic large open bale which will accommodate a thick ribbon or heavy silver chain.
Behind the bale there is a very interesting hallmark. I believe this is an Egyptian or Arabic hallmark. I have spent a great deal of time trying to find out the maker of this as I can tell that this is a very high quality piece which is likely designer.
The medallion without the bale measures 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" It dangles 3 1/4" from the top. The piece weighs over an ounce and is 40.5 grams.
The piece has a distinct retro feel and is circa 1945. Mint condition with no apologies to be made.
Certainly a one of a kind piece that is fascinating to touch and looks beautiful when worn. Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
