Absolutely gorgeous... This buckle has survived over 200+ years and remains in near Mint condition! I see no wear at all to the paste. They really sparkle just like diamonds. That is because these were cut exactly like them. A diamond cutter might have cut diamonds one day and then the next cut quartz or glass paste. Same cutter, just different stones.
There is a flower pattern on either end of the buckle. It is set in solid silver, likely 900. Both set of tines move back and forth with the most smooth movement. The gold on the leaves is professionally testing for 9K gold with my electronic gold tester.
This buckle measures just a hair Over 2 1/8" North to South measuring across the curve and 1 3/4" East to West. It weighs 22 grams. It was purchased in Italy and is absolutely European in Origin. Each paste is carefully and beautifully collet set and these pastes are in for life. Non are replaced and all are beautiful and sparkly. Circa 1800, Mint condition and gorgeous. Instead of just putting these wonderful buckles on display, it is so easy to put them on a thick piece of elastic or ribbon and wear them as beautiful bracelets... Questions are always welcome.
