My father was a drapery man for 45 years. He worked with the best designers in the San Francisco area. He was the best in his field and created some of the finest window treatments in the world. He was highly sought after and his work can still be seen today. He was an expert in tenting with fabric and worked with many celebrities and even was hired to do some work in the White House.
I saw many of his jobs. I also saw the fine fabrics and tassels he used with his jobs. In the 30+ years that I saw his work, I never once saw a set of tassels as good as these.
They are absolutely wonderful. The sheer size of them is simply outrageous. The fine French tassels have something I've not seen before. Inside the main tassel there are 8 smaller tassels inside. Each and every tassel is fabulous. The photos will give you a perfect perspective of just how impressive these are.
They were purchased in France and came out of an enormous stately mansion. Each large tassel measures 21" long x 2 3/4" across the bulbous portion. Thick and luscious is an understatement. Each smaller interior tassel measures 3/4" across and are 14" long. The long twisted silk cord that separates them measures 7' 11" long x 1/2" thick. It remains tight and perfect.
They are gold and glorious. The condition is Very Good to Excellent. The only apology to be made is that a bit of the silk just below the bulbous are and above where the tassel cords begin to hang, there is just a bit of loosening. It is mention for accuracy and absolutely will not distract.
They are Circa 1900 and sit directly on the Victorian / Edwardian border. These are meant to be seen. They are simply grand and Extra Large scale. They can be separated by a professional and one large tassel can then be used to tie back one large curtain. Fit for a queen, or King these are a designer's dream. I've never seen anything like them and could not find anything even remotely as good online. Outstanding in every way. Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
