This is the most comprehensive book on Jade that I have seen. Published in year 1925 the illustrations and pictures are really amazing. I was very limited in the number of photos I could take however I would be happy to send along additional photos upon request. Towards the end of the book there are 7 fold out pages which extend the pages by 3 3/4". These are all in color and the author organized them in groups of color such as (Yellow, brown, green or red and their combinations.) White, yellow, green, red or red brown and their combinations.) (Green, yellow, brown or grey and their combinations.) Brown, greenish, white or grey and their combinations.) And, White, grey, yellow, brown, red and their combinations.
The descriptions are remarkable. There are literally thousands of examples of ancient and (Modern) Well, modern for 1925.. Each page has the scale and description of the item on the left side and the PLATE (photos) of examples which are all numbered on the right.
There is everything from jewelry, figures, tigers, plates, dishes, various carvings of agate, crystal, amethyst, fish, frogs, baskets, flowers, bats, dogs, fans, fruit, birds, boats etc., etc. The scales are from 1/8 Original Scale up to 1/4 Original scale. The descriptions are absolutely unbelievable and each item correlates with the item. Again, I wish I could use more photos. The book is absolutely fascinating.
Books are not my area of expertise and I do realize that condition really makes a difference. I would judge this book as being in very good condition. There is some wear to the spine as you can see in my photo however it is still bound very well and no pages are loose or falling out. I believe just a bit of glue will remedy this. On the last few pages of the book there are some light brown marks, from age I suspect however it does not effect the integrity of the book in the least. The book measures 13" x 10." It is the best Jade guide I have personally ever seen. I have done some homework on this book and I believe it to be scarce. I was only able to find one other example. It was both Vol. I and II. It is being sold out of the UK and the asking price is E1450 per book. I want the buyer to be very happy with this book. It is being sold in its current condition, which again I will say very good however if you are looking for an absolute Mint copy of this, perhaps this is not the book for you. Again, please feel free to request additional photos. I have about 50 and the old saying "A picture is worth 1,000 words" is absolutely true. This really is the best book I've ever had. This would be a true treasure for the serious Jade collector. Questions are always welcome and encouraged.
