This has been in my private collection for at least 20 years. This Art Deco Hair comb is super unusual. It is a deep green (almost appears black) until it is held anywhere near the light. Then it just glows a light emerald green. Almost like a Bakelite Changer.
This is highly unusual in that it does not have common embedded rhinestones but instead has beautiful hand painted enamel birds. The comb was hand carved. The enamel color is a beautiful peach and a light gray. The comb measures 4 7/8" across the top of the comb and 4 7/8" long. Condition is very good. There is a tiny bit of gray colored enamel missing on the bottom of the neck portion to the bird to the right. There is also an very small scratch to the far right tooth. Really mentioned for accuracy.
I have never seen another piece like this before. If you happen to be a haircomb collector this really is a very special piece. Questions are always welcome.
