This is a wonderful Oversized buckle in amazing condition. Each piece of hand cut steel is round and faceted and attached by a single rivet. The buckle is large and measures 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" I do not believe this piece has ever been used.
Making Steel Cut Jewelry was difficult and very time consuming. It is believed that this process became a very profitable business in the Georgian Era (mid 1700's). It's believed original origin of production was in the Oxfordshire village of Woodstock. There are very few diamond substitutions more effective than beautiful steel cut work.
The buckle is in Excellent Antique condition made completely of Steel. Circa 1880, Victorian Period. Questions are always welcome. Please Note: I currently have a pair of Steel Cut Earrings which I bought together with this belt buckle.
