These are simply wonderful... Sunflowers just happen to be my very favorite flower. I have seen quite a few Tie Backs in my days however this is the very first pair like these I have come across. They have wonderful detail and are hand painted. They are 2 shades of yellow, a lighter yellow was painted on the pedals and a slightly darker, mustard yellow was painted on the low relief outside of the pedals. The interior was painted a light brown or dark tan. They are both impressed with the number artist number 21. They have a threaded portion at the end of the nail so it can be screwed into the wall.
They measure 2 5/8" across the flower portion. The screws extend 3" The condition is good. There is some paint flaking however I think it adds to the charm of these. There has been no paint touch up work. One of the nails on the back is ever so slightly bent however it can be bent back if you like. Once it is screwed into the wall it would never be noticed. These are Circa 1930.
Although these were meant for tiebacks they can easily be used for many other purposes. They are cheery, bright and unusual. You could hang your favorite painting from one of these, or perhaps screw them partially into your wall, spaced out, and have a glass shelf made for displaying smalls. These are just a delightful pair. Questions are always welcome.
