This stunning Art Deco duette brooch boasting multi color paste rhinestones accenting stunning faceted pink crystal is just a wonderful unsigned duette! The center of the piece is actually the framework to hold the matching fur clips giving it a wonder dimensional effect. The overall size is an impressive 3 1/8" wide and 1 1 /2" long! The origin of this lovely different duette is believed to be Czech Bohemian. The metalwork is made up of stunning floral flowers in filigree metalwork with the paste stones making up the centers and accents. There is some slight wear to the metal work on the back but overall for its age is in wonderful vintage condition. I do see that this type of duette with the wearable decorative framework is actually quite rare and to be in this overall condition. What a wonderful addition to a collection or a breathtaking gift. I don't think this piece will last long due to the rarity. Good luck shopping and thank you for stopping by!

"Duettes were combinations of a pair of dress or fur clips clipped into a metal frame with a brooch type finding (pinstem) so that you could wear the clips separately or combine them into a large piece and use it as a brooch.( Sometimes the metal frames were decorative so that you could wear the frame by itself; these are more rare than the conventional duettes. ) Mechanisms were even made to house three and even four items and are quite rare. Most duette patents date to the mid to late 1920's and duettes themselves were sold well into the 1950's. Coro was the largest producer of duettes but most of the well known companies produced at least a few. Trifari duettes are marked "Clipmates". Most duettes, if signed, are signed on the metal frame instead of the clips, so if they become separated from the frame they become much harder to identify as far as manufacturer/designer.
