This is an amazing signed Peking glass lavaliere necklace. This stunning piece constructed with Neiger key points and with heavy brass metal work and hand carved spiral beads, translucent pate de verre poured glass and cut oblong and emerald cut center piece glass pieces. The gilt work on the ornate brass is largely intact especially considering the age of the piece. The pendant section is constructed in 2 layers With the Peking glass anchored in bezel settings. This section measures just under 1 1/2" long and backside is as lovely as the front. There are 3 green glass bead strands below the centerpiece that 3/4" long 1 1/4" long and back to 3/4" long that finish the creation of the lavaliere. There are no chips or cracks to the glass or beads in the necklace or the dangles which in itself is rare. The only glass flaw i see is a rub on the sloped center focus glass. All the metal is brass including the ornate bail and old spring clasp and measures 16". The clasp circle ring is signed Czechoslovakia embossed into the ring (Neiger jewelry was only signed that way, not their names). The Neiger brothers were known for using superior quality metal work that accounts for the condition of this piece. The brothers also pressed and cut the Peking class shapes that are incorporated into the center section. That every bead looks hand cut with the truly lovely circular cut beads in the necklace also being cut by hand and they are not exact copies of the others. The brothers also insisted that the backs of the pieces be as lovely as the front and they never covered up their work with just covering stamped brass components. This piece is in stunning condition overall.
The Neiger brothers could not out run the holocaust but as long as their art and jewelry are shown worn and the story is told as part of the pieces history, these incredible designers will never be forgotten .
