A vintage early century Balinese art bust of Dewi Sinta professional dance mask Wayans Golek representing the noble Subhadra (Sita, sister of Krishna and a wife of Arjuna and an incarnation of Lakshmi; from the Hindu epic the Ramayana). Hand carved skillfully, polychrome hand painted beautifully; she wears her hair in a compact bun held in place with a comb in the shape of the head of a mythical bird Garuda. The hand drilled neck sits on a steel rod stand with a strong off-white painted hard resin base. Absolutely one of a kind, measuring 9" x 3.75" x 3.5" in total. (Bust: 5.25" x 4.5" x 2.5") The condition is consistent with the age of the item almost 100 years old item.
