Following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922, jewelry with an Egyptian motif became highly popular and collectible. This little celluloid brooch dates from this Egyptian Revival, made in the 1920s or early 1930s. Tiny celluloid King Tut bust is backed by gold enamel, set in an antiqued-goldtone metal frame, and placed for a three-dimensional effect on a snowflake-shaped celluloid backing. Measures approx. 1.5" (4cm) across. In near-mint condition with secure pin clasp.
