This signed/numbered 1996 Carnival ball favor from the Mistick Krewe of Comus, New Orleans' oldest Mardi Gras krewe, is a clear glass paperweight in the shape of a "ram's head" (really more of a devilish human face with ram's horns). This character first appeared in the 1873 Comus parade. Created by New Orleans jeweler Adler's, the paperweight comes with its original Comus box, Adler's drawstring fabric bag, and card explaining its origins. Measures approx. 3" x 2.5" x 0.75" (8cm x 7cm x 2cm). Weighs approx. 4.8 oz. (135g). Signed and numbered on the back: "MKC 1996 - 170/415." A very rare Carnival collectible in near-mint condition.
