Purchased from the estate of a practicing witch who used it as an altar decoration, this necklace resembles jewelry made by the Berber people of Northern Africa; however, I don't know its origins and it looks newer/more polished than many such pieces. Large diamond-shaped silvertone pendant is set with a black glass cabochon and has five articulated dangling coins, each set with a faceted black crystal. In Berber culture, the jangling sound of these coins is said to keep evil spirits away. Pendant measures approx. 3.75" x 1.5" (10cm x 4cm). Chain with lobster clasp measures approx. 29" (74cm). In excellent vintage condition.
