These handmade earrings from Africa are bovine bone dyed red and black with natural pigments, then etched on both sides with a praying mantis design. This design may represent Cagn, the supreme god of the San people of southern Africa. He is a trickster god who enjoys shifting shapes, most often taking the form of a praying mantis. Each earring measures approx. 2.5" long x 0.75" wide (6.5cm x 2.5cm) with fish hook wires. In excellent vintage condition.
