These tintype photograph brooches are often listed as mourning jewelry, but this one is probably a sweetheart pin, exchanged by Victorian lovers as a token of commitment. Metal is probably pinchbeck, a copper/zinc alloy often used in less expensive jewelry of the era. Measures approx. 1.12" (3.5cm) across. There are a couple of tiny scratches on the tintype, and C clasp is slightly bent, but in good working shape; piece overall is in fine antique condition.
