Large cider (or water) jug of ovoid shape, expertly hand painted with a still life scene within a canted cartouche at front and gilt decorative band above the body with gilt swags and scroll on the reverse.
Though elaborate gilding and the exquisite painting suggest that jug was meant for decoration the rubbed gilding on the handle and the rim is evidence that it was actually used.

Size: 21 cm high, 20 cm spout to handle.
Condition: good condition for the age, some gilt rub, old tight crack with hairlines to the bottom, however the item is perfectly stable, doesn't let water through and displays beautifully!
