A superb early 19th Century Derby twin handled porcelain basket.
The basket dates back to the late Georgian period around 1820. This beautiful example has a large central reserve hand painted with painted topographical scene “In Switzerland” in the manner of John Brewer.
The body of the basket features extensive and elaborate gilt work over a white ground. It is also gilded to the underside.
The Derby crossed baton mark and the name of the scene in black are featured to the underside.
A very showy piece which would make a marvellous addition to a collection of fine antique porcelain.
