In ancient Roman mythology Aurora, goddess of the dawn, renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the sun, scattering flowers on the earth.
The cameo is of a superb quality, so skilfully craved with great attention to the smallest of details, everything is crisp and perfect.
Lovely light carnelian shell, carved in Italy, c 1890-1900, frame is English, marked 18 ct gold to reverse.
Frame is stylish and elegant, perfect match to enhance the beauty of the cameo.
