These lovely Victorian earrings date from the 1870s and have pear-shaped garnet drops topped with diamond leaf forms in a ‘strawberry’ design, suspended from diamond set bars.
The almandine garnets are cut as pear-shaped hollow cabochons (with a hollowed out back), allowing light to shine through the stones, giving them a glowing appearance.
The rose-cut diamonds are set to silver-topped gold in the classic Victorian style.
A section of the gold backing to the reverse of one of the earrings has been broken away, but this does not detract from the appearance of the earrings and the settings are secure.
For pierced ears.
