These Four sterling silver coffee spoons were made in London in the year 1801 by the Bateman family. You may have heard of the noted female English silversmith Hester Bateman. This set of spoons was made by the firm of Peter, Ann, and William Bateman which was registered in the year 1800.
Peter was the son of Hester Bateman, Ann, not to be confused with Ann, the daughter of Hester Bateman, was the daughter in law of Hester Bateman by way of marriage to her son Johnathan. This marriage produced a son William, grandson of Hester Bateman. William eventually joined his uncle Peter and his mother in the family business. These spoons have a magnificent bright cut design engraved on them which shows a superior level of craftsmanship. The condition of these spoons is good, although the hallmarks are quite worn down.
