This classically designed sterling silver serving spoon was made in New Castle, England. The thing that makes this spoon stand out is that there is no date mark. The spoon was made by John Langlands and John Robertson who were registered as being in business together from 1778 through 1795. Consequently, the year of manufacturing is between those two dates. Through additional research, I have learned that between the years 1795 through 1815 it was not uncommon for smaller items made in London, Exeter, and New Castle to not add a date stamp in order to dodge the duty payment.
There is a three initial engraving, "RBE" at the top of the spoon.
Weight: 2.8 Troy ozs.
